Extending the Journey of Education

A Teacher, A Visionary, A Legacy
Late Shri K. Venkataramaiah (KVR) was more than a teacher—he was a mentor, a guide, and a visionary who transformed education in Tumakuru. Fondly remembered as one of the city’s most respected educators, he dedicated his life to shaping young minds with values, knowledge, and character.
Rooted In Purpose The Beginning (1986)
After years of service as a teacher, Shri KVR started what would become Maruthi Vidya Kendra. With just 15 students in his own home at Someshwarapuram, he sowed the seeds of an institution built on care, discipline, and holistic learning. His belief was simple yet profound: education must go beyond textbooks and help children discover their true potential.

Building a Movement in Education
From that modest start, MVK grew into a group of schools known for academic excellence and character-building. Under his vision, the State Board campus at Someshwarapuram flourished as the first chapter of MVK.
Expanding to Reach Rural Tumakuru
In 2004, the CBSE campus at Belagumba was established on a 5-acre campus, bringing quality, technology-enabled, and affordable education to thousands of children in rural Tumakuru.

Carrying His Name Forward
Later, the KVR Maruthi PU College was founded, carrying forward his name and values for higher learning.
An Enduring Legacy
Though he is no longer with us, Shri K. Venkataramaiah’s spirit lives on in every classroom, every teacher, and every student at MVK. His dedication to education is remembered not just in the institutions he built, but in the countless lives he touched.
Maruthi Vidya Kendra Group of institutions stands today as a tribute to his vision—a beacon of learning, values, and opportunity for the children of Tumakuru.
